How does it work?

The ORTHOsoft™ Navitrack® TotalHip™ System was designed to integrate completely into the surgical workflow, thereby minimizing extra steps a surgical team may have to take. The ORTHOsoft™ Navitrack®TotalHip™ System tracks, and then displays, bone structures and the main surgical instruments used by the surgeon on a workstation screen; giving the surgeon real-time, 3-D visual and numeric information. This provides the surgeon with precise measurements of leg-length changes during surgery. This is important so that the patient will have the same mobility as they recover.

Trackers, attached to the surgeon’s instruments with small pins, are placed on the pelvis. During surgery, the surgeon identifies several landmarks on the pelvis and femur allowing the computer to identify the best alignment for the implant to restore your healthy physiology. Regarding alignment during surgery, in real-time the navigation system tracks the surgeon’s instruments, showing on a screen the implant’s actual position. As the surgeon proceeds with the resurfacing of your joint to accommodate the implant, the navigation system verifies the preparation accuracy before the final implant is inserted.

To date, the ORTHOsoft™ Navitrack® TotalHip™ System has been used in over 10,000 total hip replacements worldwide.
